Problems of space? Perhaps the fault is not entirely of your music files, images and video, but installation packages and unnecessary dependencies in the system. But do not despair, there are some options of apt-get that can help solve these problems.

Apt

APT is Advanced Packing Tool , which is responsible for managing the packages to install and UNINSTALL, and their respective dependencies. <APT was created for Debian , and designed to work with dpkg , but now somemodifications have been done to work with the package manager RPM with apt-rpm.

Although some file archivers offer us the option of split the files, this can be easily accomplished with two commands: split and cat.

Splitting a file with split

split just needs the size of the parts that we want to create, and the file that we want to split, e.g.:

split -b 1024 file_to_split.bin

If this file is 6 kibibytes long, it will create 6 files of 1 kibibyte each, named xaa, xab, xac, xad, xaeand xaf.

Most of this commands can be run as non-privileged user, but more information can be obtained if (and should be) run as root:
General system information:

# uname -a

List all hardware

 lshw |less

On 10 July CentOS 6 has been, finally, released.
CentOS-6.0 is based on the upstream release of Red Hat EL 6.0 and includes packages from all variants. All upstream repositories have been combined into one, to make it easier for end users to work with.

CentOS stands for Community ENTerprise Operating System and it exists to provide a free enterprise class computing platform and strives to maintain 100% binary compatibility with its upstream distribution, in this case Red Hat EL 6.
