Small news for my readers, one of the game included in one of my article the Top 10 games for Linux in 2012 , is available until the 21 of October in a Indie Bundle, that as usual means that you can get it, and something more, with a very low budget.

To be honest of the 5 games available in this bundle just 2 are ported on Linux, but one of them is Oil Rush that, in my opinion, is worth alone the price of the whole bundle.

Tomboy is still my note taking program as in the homepage of Gnote I still read: Synchronization support is being worked on, and sync was one requirement when I chose a note taking program some years ago.

I use Ubuntu One as “cloud space” for my notes and so far it has served me well, so also if Tomboy is a mono program I’ve decided to continue to use it, but how to configure it on Mint to save the notes on Ubuntu one ?

If you love RPG (role-playing game) and you think that there is no future for these games on Linux this post is for you.
In this post I’ll show you 4 NEW RPG games, they are all developed from the scratch to run on our beloved Penguin: Questverse, Hale, Dawn, Flare and Arakion

Just a small warning they are projects in the making, so none of them is still ready to be fully played, but if you like this genre just read on, you’ll not be disappointed.

DWA-125_cap_on

My new desktop don’t has an integrated wireless card, but has 10 USB ports, so I’ve decided to use an external USB/Wireless adapter to connect it to the WI-Fi at my home, using a cable is not an option, I’ve the router in another room, and it would be a mess to bring it to the desktop, so without doing any research on the net for linux-friendly adapter (and i really suggest you to do this if you want to buy one) I’ve bought a D-LINK N 150 aka DWA-125 on the local mall, basically I’ve bought the cheapest adapter with a name i know.

And setting this up it’s been the hardest part of all the new installation, if you have the “luck” to have this hardware this small guide can perhaps help you too, I’ve done it on a Mint 13, but this should work flawlessly on Ubuntu and Debian as well, and probably on most distributions.

In the last 2 days I’ve been busy with my new desktop, I’ll use it as my home computer where i browse, write office documents do some gaming everything on Linux of course.
With my requirements more or less any new hardware will work for me, sometimes i wonder why people with not knowledge of PC buys computers for more than 1500$, I’ve bought (thanks ebay) a cheap dual core pentium (G620) on a Asrock H61M-HVS motherboard + 8GB Ram (Kingston DDR3) + a Hard disk Seagate 500GB 7200RPM 16MB buffer and a Radeon Sapphire HD 5450 with 2048MB GDDR3 RAM on board, all for around 430 $.

To this list I’ve added a D-Link Wireless N 150 usb adapeter ( DWA-125 ), the piece of … hardware that has given more problens in the setup, but now it’s up and running too, in my next post a small guide on how to make it works on Linux.

As a new thing for my desktop and as anticipated by title I’ve decided to move from Ubuntu to Mint, staying on the XFCE edition.
On my desktop I’ve always used .deb distributions, and so after Debian and Ubuntu it’s now time to test Mint, I’ve heard a lot of praise on it and so i want to test it on first hand after 2 years and half of Ubuntu, to be honest this decision has been taken also after some “commercial” choices of Canonical for their next release and Unity a DE that I’ve never liked, i prefer much more Cinnamon, that i use on my Laptop with gentoo.
