On the 2 of November Mediagoblin 0.1 has been released. What ? You don’t know what’s the GNU Mediagoblin project ?
Mediagoblin GNU is a project that has as goal to get an open source,sort of, “clone” of deviantART, Flickr, Picasa Web Albums and generally of all the online sites that let you upload your media (photos, videos, etc.). Why do it? For the freedom of course, what’s more important than that ?
Some of the problems that the project would like to solve cover the actual ownership of the shared content, data portability and privacy.
Mediagoblin is released under the AGPLv3, which means that if third parties put up services based on Mediagoblin they’ll be obligated to share changes even if they don’t “distribute” the software in the traditional sense.
I forget to say, they are working to get a federated photo sharing site, so there will be multiple sites that share the same information.

The 22 of October 2011 is the day of the eleventh Italian Linux Day .
This wonderful event is now in its eleventh version, I have participated at various editions of this event in my local town and adjacent areas, depending on the programs offered, and I must say that I always come out very satisfied.
But you do not know what is the Linux Day?
The Linux Day is a national event which aims to promote GNU/Linux and free software.
Each local Linux user group has the responsibility to organise his implementation, so in the chosen day you can join to the most diverse activities including seminars, workshops, conferences and Installation Party, The various programs of the LUG are online so you can see what your local association is preparing and take note of the most interesting appointments/conference for you. A new Humble Indie Bundle is started yesterday, a great and new opportunity to know and buy new indie game for a cheap price.
This time the offer it’s a bit different from the former edition, there is just 1 videogame in the main bundle: Frozen Synapse, but If you beat the promotion average you will also get the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle which includes the games Trine, Shadowgrounds Survivor, Shadowgrounds, the game prototype Jack Claw and a preorder for Splot which is currently in development.
As of writing, that means you’ll have to part with $4.51 to get Trine, Shadowgrounds, Shadowgrounds: Survivor, Splot and Jack Claw — a fair deal considering Frozen Synapse alone usually cost around $25 on Steam.
