From today i’ve switched, on my Gentoo,from openoffice 3.2 to libreoffice 3.3 and for sure i’ve no regret.

If in the last 6 months you have been away from the net you could wonder what’s libreoffice:

On 28 September 2010, some members of the OpenOffice.org Project formed a new group called The Document Foundation and made available a rebranded fork of OpenOffice.org, which they dubbed LibreOffice. The fork was created over fears that Oracle Corporation, after buying out the project’s former sponsor Sun Microsystems, would discontinue OpenOffice.org as it had done with OpenSolaris. It was hoped that the LibreOffice name would be provisional, as Oracle was invited to become a member of the Document Foundation, and was asked to donate the OpenOffice.org brand to the project.

Oracle rejected the project and demanded that all members of the OpenOffice.org Community Council involved with The Document Foundation step down from the Council, citing a conflict of interest.

SpamAssassin is an implementation that uses a scoring system based on a genetic algorithm to identify messages that could be suspected of being unsolicited sent via mass mailings systems, adding headers to the message so that it can be filtered by the email client MUA> ( Mail User Agent).

About Procmail.
Procmail is a program that works like MDA ( Mail Delivery Agent) that is used to manage the delivery of local mail system. Also allows automatic filtering of e-mail, pre-sorting and other tasks.

Procmail can be used interchangeably with Sendmail and Postfix.

Introduction

When a server environment is created using virtualization software or a cloud service, the number of servers tends to increase rapidly. Software installation and configuration are required every time a server is created. Further, synchronizing server configurations requires additional effort such as writing shell scripts.

In this article, we will describe how to build a server environment automatically using a relatively new software tool called Puppet. Although this tool is typically used to manage large-scale server infrastructure (such as a data center or a Web service with a large number of users), it can also be used to manage a small number of servers. However, Puppet is a newly developed tool, and the existing documentation and the articles on Puppet are still somewhat cursory.

Introduction to Leading Open Source eCommerce Web Application: Magento By: Garry Hays
Magento is an open-source ecommerce web application created by Varien which was later re-christened as Magento Inc. It was launched on March 31st 2008 and it is built on the components of Zend Framework. Magento is available under the Open Software License version 3.0. The Magento Enterprise Edition (paid edition) which is aimed at larger companies was launched on 15th April 2009; this version provides a service agreement with Varien.
