Logo_Emmabuntüs_septembre_2012Today I want to present you Emmabuntüs  a Linux distribution derived from Ubuntu and designed to facilitate the repacking of computers donated to Emmaüs Communities.
The name itself is a combination of two words: Ubuntu and Emmaüs.

Emmabuntüs 2 has been released on July 21 2013 and it’s based on Xubuntu 12.04 LTS, this is because the team want a Long Term support base distribution, and with this version you can be sure to have support for 5 years.

But let’s see some detail of this distribution.

I’ve received from Liam Dawe, owner of gamingonlinux.com this nice Interview with Jonathan Prior of Gameolith, he asked me to re-publish this interview and advertise his nice site, where you can find many more interviews about games for Linux.

—-

Todays question time was spent with Jonathan Prior of Gameolith a newish Linux game download store of which I am a customer of so I thought it would be good to get some feedback!

GOL: First of all can you introduce yourself and your website, who is involved, and who does what exactly?

I’ve received some information from Jean-Michel regarding DoudouLinux a project he’s leading, you can read an interview with him and more info on Doudou in a former article.

I’ve browsed a bit their site and i’ve also noticed a new and better graphic and much more info on how to setup and use this distribution, but now these are the information i got from Jean-Michel:

You probably know that my project DoudouLinux is still alive and, much more than that, really active! Indeed we have just released our first version officially tagged as stable (not that previous ones were instable 😉 ).

Its name is DoudouLinux 1.0 Gondwana and it is available in 15 officially supported languages, using 5 different alphabets.

As you proposed me months ago to tell you about our achievements, I’m back to explain what we did. Of course I’d be very glad if you take some time to tell the world about the evolution of our project. Please note that we now have 3 Italian contributors and I’m pleased to announce that you can already browse several Italian pages on our website :):

jajukToday I present you an interview with Bertrand Florat the creator of Jajuk.

“Jajuk is software that organizes and plays music. It is a full-featured application geared towards advanced users with large or scattered music collections. Using multiple perspectives, the software is designed to be intuitive and provide different visions of your collection.”

Jajuk has many interesting features and being developed in Java is available for Linux (it’s available as package in the main distribution), Windows and Mac OS X.

I found this great project some time ago (I’ve been the first Italian translator), but my work and laziness brought me away, today I’ve met again with Bertrand and he’s been so kind to give me some of his time for this interview.
