DynDNS e ddclient: accedi al tuo Linux da ovunque

Accedere al computer di casa (che chiamerò server su questo articolo) da una postazione remota (che chiamerò cliente) al di fuori della rete locale, può essere molto interessante, per esempio, per ascoltare musica in streaming da un MPD, gestire il download di file con un client BitTorrent come Transmission attraverso la sua interfaccia web, o avere il controllo della macchina via SSH … Tuttavia, prima di accedere al proprio server in remoto, è necessario conoscere l ‘”indirizzo” o IP (indirizzo Internet Protocol), ma in genere in casa gli indirizzi sono forniti in modo dinamico, attraverso il provider di servizi Internet, quindi non è così facile sapere l’IP del vostro server di casa.
Vedremo come aggiornare automaticamente il nome DNS su un server DNS (DynDNS) con l’attuale indirizzo IP del server grazie a ddclient.

Triste notizia per gli utenti deb – GetDeb e Playdeb chiudono

NEWS: 03- Feb 2013 I siti GetDeb.net, PlayDeb.net sono tornati online, da G+

Fortunately, we did have an up-to-date backup of the old server at the end. The last days I was busy to get everything set up. The sites are up again and you should be able to browse the packages (none should be lost) as well as to use the repository as usual. If you have problems be sure that “dig screenshots.getdeb.net” outputs “208.113.160.150”

Un giorno davvero triste per molti utenti che utilizzano il formato .deb, 2 del miei repository preferiti GetDeb e Playdeb sono chiusi per sempre (?), Questo è il messaggio pubblicato su G+ dal loro autore:

After the server crash where also the GetDeb and PlayDeb database was lost and given the fact that GetDeb and PlayDeb now have too many packages to be handled as a one-man-project I decided to discontinue GetDeb and PlayDeb.
In the last years I have spent so many hours in the project that now it is just too much for me to maintain beside my usual job.

But this does not mean that all the work in GetDeb and PlayDeb is lost.
