Imagination is a lightweight and simple DVD slide show maker for Linux and FreeBSD written in C language and built with the GTK+2 toolkit. Imagination has been designed from the ground up to be fast, light and easy-to-use. PromoGest is a management program for your business. Developed by PromoTUX a leading Italian company in the industry.
Written using open source software is licensed under the GPL. The basic version is freely downloadable and freely usable without any license restrictions. It handles superbly customer lists, supplier and all the generation and movement of documents. For specific features or to customize the print model will, however, necessary to activate specific modules.

backtrack5 The 10 of may the backtrack team has released the version number 5 (codename “revolution”) of their penetration tool.
Yes backtrack it’s a live Linux Distribution made with this goal, be the best penetration and learning tool around.

It’s Based on Ubuntu Lucid LTS (10.04). Kernel 2.6.38, patched with all relevant wireless injection patches. Fully open source and GPL compliant. In this release you can choose to have Gnome or KDE and install it on 32 or 64 bit computer. The former release supported only 32 bit installation.

The news today is that Microsoft seem to be in the process of buying has bought Skype for something around $8.5 billion.
So what will happen to Linux support for Skype ? No one knows it at the moment but  I can imagine nothing too good, in the best scenario, that I can imagine at the moment, the new Skype servers are still open to Linux clients, but the support on our operating system is left back and over some time using Skype on Linux become almost impossible.

But perhaps it’s better to talk to something else…what do you know about XMPP/Jingle ? Continue reading »
