Game changers that show up in life often do not show up in the way and the when we expect them.‭ ‬That often leads us to not accuracy see them for what they are.‭ ‬This is going to be a year of game changing in‭ ‬2012,‭ ‬and most of us do not yet see it.

One company we can thank for the change is,‭ ‬Microsoft.‭ ‬Windows‭ ‬8‭ ‬will be out sometime this year.‭ ‬You won’t have to touch it to feel its impact.‭ ‬The Redmond,‭ ‬WA company put a muzzle in the mouth of its marketing department about its bottom of the barrel Hyper-V a few years ago and quietly improved the code.

They will make it a standard feature in Windows‭ ‬8‭ (‬NT V.6.2‭)‬.‭ ‬Keep in mind they have added ARM CPU support to this NT version.‭ ‬We can get devices with multiple ARM in a single package in several smartphones and tablets now.‭ ‬This means…

Virtual Machines will be something your mom will be using,‭ ‬if not knowing it.‭ ‬VM usage is about to become so commonplace the next generation of ARM chips will have what I call‭ ‬2‭ ‬and a half CPUs.‭ ‬2‭ ‬of them are real bit busters.‭ ‬The‭ ‘½’ ‬CPU will stay alive while the other‭ ‬2‭ ‬are OFF.‭ ‬It will perform functions in a low power state,‭ ‬extending battery life.

qemuI’ve received this article from Francesco and gladly i publish it:

Every day we read of new Linux distributions (GNU/Linux to be correct), and sometimes happen to want to try them “on the road”, even those who do not have a live version. The first program that comes to mind, I think, is precisely Qemu. But I also think that there is also an attempt  to find a more friendly alternative. The second choice I think is VirtualBox, a Qemu-based solution that gives to you at once and without effort everything you need. But is it really necessary to use a program that adds to our Linux machine other useless processes ? For me no. Of course, to switch from Virtualbox to Qemu I think, all of these tasks should be accomplished by a graphical interface “mouse-proof” and the terminal should not be used.

You don’t believe that it’s possible ?

Programs you need:

  • qemu, the main program on the command line;
  • qemu-launcher, graphic interface of qemu;
  • qemu-control, add-on of qemu-launcher.

winbox virtualboxAuthor: Mario Pesce

Introduction

As most people do,when I started using Linux, I created separate partitions for Linux and used Lilo or Grub to boot either into either Windows or Linux, according to the different job requirements.

I normally used my laptop PC during the day in a company that used Windows applications in a Windows based LAN and therefore I normally had to boot in Windows during the day to work with my colleagues whereas at home I would boot mainly into Linux. This approach has a few disadvantages as follows:

  • My work e-mails were in Microsoft Outlook and I had to boot under Windows to access them.
  • I used KMail (and later Mozilla Thunderbird) for my personal e-mails and I had to boot under Linux to access them.
  • I could access Window folders from Linux and copy data from Windows, but I could not access any Linux directory from Windows.

Kvm, Virtualbox or Vmware ?

Kvm, Virtualbox or Vmware ?

In this article I want to talk about three great virtualization software for your desktop computer. Why virtualize? The current computers have faster CPUs and  more RAM compared to those of 3 or 4 years ago. There is more ability to run a second operating system in parallel to your main operating system. But why […]
