So just out of curiosity I looked at what this game looked like.
The games are: Monster RPG 2, Uplink, Family Farm and Darwinia
Monster RPG 2 is a fantasy quest that spans continents and worlds and lets you take a simple villager and develop her into a hero with the power to save her world. The next instalment in the classic Monster RPG series, Monster RPG 2 is a turn-based role-playing game with enough variety, plot twists, secrets, and scenery to keep even the old school players coming back for more. If you loved the 16 bit classics on systems like SNES, you’ll love this game.
The graphic is definitely old style, as you can see from the video, but if the story is good as presented (and looking at the reviews i think so) it could be a nice alternative to spend a few hours of fun in the old way.
Note: You can buy it from ubuntu Center at 2.99 $ or from the official page at 0.99 $
I played this game around 2 years ago, you play an Uplink Agent who makes a living by performing jobs for major corporations. Your tasks involve hacking into rival computer systems, stealing research data, sabotaging other companies, laundering money, erasing evidence, or framing innocent people.
You use the money you earn to upgrade your computer systems, and to buy new software and tools. As your experience level increases you find more dangerous and profitable missions become available. You can speculate on a fully working stock market (and even influence its outcome). You can modify peoples academic or criminal records. You can divert money from bank transfers into your own accounts. You can even take part in the construction of the most deadly computer virus ever designed.
In my opinion with all these premises and with a good graphic make this game a must test for every Linux user.
Buy it from the official site at $15 or from Ubuntu Center at $9.99. On the official website there is also a freely downloadable demo version
Work the farm in this game of 19th century farmsteading and build a home for your families. Clicking cows won’t earn you any cash. This is a simulation of a farmstead experienced in stories which span a generation. Keep them fed, develop their skills, and grow their land in to a Family Farm!
Improve the soil and watch the weather to grow your crops. Keep poultry and livestock. Raise a new generation to run the farm.
Personally I’ve had enough of farms-related games, but there are still a lot of person that like this genre, and for sure this game seems well realized Note: this game does not run on Intel video cards.
Price From Ubuntu center 14.99$ on the official site 14.99€ (it’s not a mistake it’s euro).
The world of Darwinia is a virtual themepark, running entirely inside a computer network and populated by a sentient evolving life form called the Darwinians. Unfortunately Darwinia has been overrun by a computer virus which has multiplied out of control. Your task is to destroy the Viral Infection and save the Darwinians from extinction; in the role of an assistant professor who will sit at the console and activate the defenses.
The same are nothing but a series of programs, originally designed such as arcade games and promptly converted into military units ready to unleash hell against Virii. There are officers, necessary to drive the hordes of DG (Darwinians Guys) from one end of the map to the other, preventing them like lemmings, to careless move into the mouth of the enemy, Engineers, the only able to build the necessary structures and the Teams small but aggressive groups of DG armed to the teeth with lasers, grenades and rockets, which will be burdened with the dirty work of eliminating the enemy. This, in turn, will not scruple in unleashing hordes of ants, spiders murderers, millipedes impetuous as battle tanks and even flying dragons, putting at risk the health and the peace of the quiet Darwinia. The battle will be fierce and will require, after the first fast clashes, careful management of strategic and tactical options that can be managed through a command interface that remembers the operating system of a computer. The resources available to players, in fact, are not unlimited and we must manage the evolution of weapons and vehicles in order to be ready to face increasingly lethal enemy threats.
Buy it at 9.99 $ from Ubuntu Center or 15 $ from the official site.
