Change your Grub options with Grub Customizer

Edit the menu of grub is not the easiest thing to do, and if you do some mistakes there is the risk that you are not able anymore to boot into your Linux, for these reasons it’s usually suggested to use some tool to edit grub configurations, today I’ll show you Grub Customizer.

Grub Customizer is a graphical settings manager for GRUB2 and BURG that allows anyone to easily set the boot options.

Disclaimer: Grub Customizer should be a stable application, but you should be very careful when using it and be sure to know what you’re doing!
Messing with GRUB2/BURG can cause the system not to boot!

5 ways to check your disk usage on Linux

In the past I’ve wrote an article about the commands du and df that can respectively give you information about the Disk Usage and the Disk Free of your Linux computer.
I personally use both of these commands a lot of times at work to check file system and/or directory, but I also understand that on a desktop with Linux you could use something more graphical to see the status of your partitions or directories, so today I’ll show you some programs that can achieve this goal: baobab, cdu, ncdu, JDiskReport and Filelight.

The Best Filesystem for an external hard disk of 1TB with cross platform support.

Disks are becoming cheaper and so it’s becoming common to have on our desk an external (usually USB) hard drive with a size of 1TB or more.
Now, once that we bring at home our new gadget the first question for us is: “which Filesystem should i use with this big disk ?”

There are a lot of options and the main point is once again a simple question: do you want to use this disk with several different operating systems ?
Perhaps you have a computer with a dual-boot with a Windows operating system , or perhaps you plan to use that external hard drive also with your Macbook…or connect it to a TV.
